No charge for police officer over G20 protest death
(Reuters) – A riot squad officer, filmed shoving a man to the ground during violent G20 protests in London last year, will not face criminal charges over his death, Britain’s chief prosecutor said on Thursday.

The G20 security operation was codenamed “Operation Glencoe”, The Guardian reported speculation among protesters that the operation had been named after the 1692 Glencoe massacre in the Scottish Highlands; a spokesman for the Met said before the protests that the police were “up for it”!
The Guardian alleges that he may have removed his shoulder number and covered the bottom of his face with his balaclava before hitting Tomlinson. The Daily Mail writes that this image shows the officer’s shoulder ID was missing. According to The Mail on Sunday, TSG officers have been known to swap shoulder IDs, then claim, if accused of wrongdoing, that their unit was elsewhere at the time and that it must be a case of mistaken identity

Along with millions of other concerned citizens, I am disgusted, appalled and outraged at the decision not to prosecute PC Simon Harwood.
Keir Starmer’s statement was riddled with errors and obvious inconsistencies. He is clearly unfit for the office of DPP and should be removed immediately.

What sort of message is this sending out to the other “bad apples” in the police force ,10 years, 400 deaths, 0 charges? To me this would suggest ,its alrights lads you can kill them,we’ll protect you.
The message to the protesters is very loud and clear…
Demonstrate against the system and at least one of you will die!
But its NOT a police state …Tony Blair said so, and we ALL know he doesn’t tell lies!

IMHO Most political “isms” would work in a perfect world ,but unfortunately in this world ,power attracts the corrupt and corrupts those in power.I believe BOTH Adam Smith and Kark Marx where Libertarians,both believed in a society without government. In the end leftwing and rightwing is just a divide and rule tactic to distract us from the authoritarian “state capitalist” reality we are living in today. Our “political representatives” left and right are BOTH STATE CAPITALISTS. One prefers Big Business the other Big Government ,the 2 cheeks of the same arse that squashs down on the face of freedom!
